  • Heat Riser "HOLDER"

Not sure about term but, the thing with the spring on it that helps the engine to warm up faster. The bracket that bolts onto the lower part of the exhaust manifold that holds the spring and the part that goes inside of the exhaust manifold is broken.

I will try to get it welded.
Not sure if it is cast or not.
Where might I buy a NOS or good used one?
Where might I get a gasket?
Are there sheets of exhaust type gasket materials available so I can make my own.
What about just putting a flat piece of metal and gasket over the hole and using the existing bolt holes to hold it on?
Do I really need it since I do not plan to drive it in cold weather.
I have worked hard to keep it original so I would really like to just replace it!!!

You can run your Studebaker without the heat riser in moderate to warm weather. Being's its a six, I can't advise you on how to do it, though.

Jimmie...you can remove the inside butterfly and just leave the outside woks for authenticity...or you can remove it all and use plugs in the holes as it is down low and difficult to see anyway...Thats what I did on my 50 Stude 6 cyl....no problems...John

All these parts are available from vendors.
I will look to see if I still have some.
