A Hell of a Time

Getting all together for my '54. Purchased the new V8 hood emblem from S.I.. They don't fit together properly, the Eight sit well above the V and won't come close to contouring to the hood The V is fine, the Eight is floating. Any ideas, suggestions? Open to all comments.

Are you quite sure you got the C & K hood "8", not the flatter Sedan "8"?

I had this problem on a 55 decklid V8. I used a small file until the 2 parts fit together like they should. The casting was too wide to fit 'down' into the V

Same problem on the trunk of a '62 Daytona (same exact parts, I believe.) A little adjustment of the "8" was in order, and I believe I just used the original "V" as it wasn't that bad.

No, the contour is correct to the hood. Just received a second 8 from S.I., they are out of stock on the V's. Wish me luck.
