will the ring and pinion from a 2 1/4 inch axle housing rear from a '64 v/8 daytona exchange with my 2 1/2 inch non posi in my '64 avanti ? thanks

Are these both 44's? What gear ratios? I thought all 44 rears used the same size axle tubing so I'm guessing "no" and that your Daytona rear is a 27.

Model 44 Rear Axle Assemblies

Dana/Spicer Axle Model codes 23/27/44 are the raised numbers on the right side, lower web from the pumpkin to the axle tube, usually the rear facing side.

The Ratio Tag is usually under the rear cover bolt at about 7:00 or 8:00.

The 4.09, 4.27, 4.55 take the Low gear Carrier, the 3.07,3.31, 3.54 & 3.73 get the High Gear Carrier.

You will need a Model 44 Ring, Pinion and Carrier Assy. to fit your 44 Avanti Housing.

On post 1958 Cars, the Model 44's are only found in 289 Engine equipped cars, Station Wagons, Police Cars and Taxis.
