We may be needing to borrow a set for the summer if we run out of time to make headers for our salt racer. I'm confident we will set another record in August (gotta think positive), so if you want some street cred on your pipes, give me a holler....(I'd buy a pair outright if you have some too....)

Greg, I got a pair of regular manifolds that may accidently fall into the wrong hands and be media honed, if the R3's don't turn up.

Check with Myer's Studebaker. Mike found a set for my Avanti project and he honed them out as well.

Who does the honing? cost?
Always a CASO asking how much, i'll be the CASO this time.

The R3 headers cost me $400 and the labor to bead blast them, hone (grind out with a hand drexel tool) and paint them with heat resistant paint was $280.

In a discussion of technology, terminology is everything.

Hand grinding to remove casting irregularities is an easy operation most anyone can do at home.

Extrude Honing has to be sent out and done in a specialized shop. The process forces an abrasive slurry through the entire length of the intake or exhaust manifold. It enlarges interior passages impossible to reach with a hand grinder. A typical cost to Extrude Hone one cast iron exhaust manifold would be $300 and up, depending on length and how smooth.

Greg, if you just want to borrow some I have a pair that is waaaaaay down on my list of things to install. Got some head pipes too but not sure what they fit. LMK if you want to use 'em. Haven't cleaned 'em up yet, so you'd be doing me a favor if you got them ready to go. Only thing that I ask is that you use some good manifold paint on them before you use them.

Nate, that's great! I'll clean them up, paint'm and send them back to you after speedweek.
Send me your phone number and we can talk about it on my nickel....
