  • brake eccentric problem...fix ???

I have a '52 Stude. Commander which is new to me. I am redoing the brakes. The eccentric on the right (facing the backing plate) measures 1 1/8" (it is short about 1/2" in diameter which would then give it enough throw) and it is not enough to push the shoe out. This is the shoe without the self-adjuster. The eccentric on the left is quite large in diameter and works fine with the self-adjusting shoe. These shoes and eccentrics came with the car. Wrong eccentric ?? Can the present eccentric be built up with weld ?? What is the fix/problem...........Brad

    PROBLEM FIXED SHOES WERE BACKWARDS.....

Are you sure one of the "Eccentrics" does not have a removable ring on the part that moves the shoes out? I have seen those on Champions, they are aftermarket kits to eliminate the self adjusters, and are not to be used with them.
