  • Hawk Horn Buttons

Acquired an NOS horn ring c/w horn button for my 64 Hawk which came with a 'spare' NOS horn button...however they are not the same..

The first one has the Hawk emblem (approx 1 & 1/8 inch long) with a black circle background surrounded by a gold rim with silver 'spokes' ..

The second one has a larger Hawk emblem approx 1 & 1/2 inches long on a gold 'mylar' finish circle background surrounded by a black rim with silver 'spokes'..

Was there more than one style in 1964 or is the second one another year Hawk, and what year?

    Tks

    Barry

The second one sounds like a '60 and '61 Hawk button.

Keep in mind that in the 1990's Studebaker of California was selling "almost correct" repros!! [xx(]

Ack! StudeRich, don't get me started on the "almost repros"! It's been a pet peeve of mine for several years.

The left one looks correct for 1962 at least. I don't think I've ever seen one like the one on the right. I'm sure JDP would know, if he's around.

The one on the right is bogus. It sure woulda caught my eye if I'd stumbled across it at a meet!

Here's the late Hawk buttons. From left to right, there's the 63-64 Hawk, the 60-61 Hawk and the 62 Hawk. Complementing Lark buttons below.

Here's more of the display as well. Coming soon to a TW near you![:0]
