Hello, we are looking for a Starlight Project car, preferrably a '51, but it can be any of the years '47-'52. We are open to piecing it together by getting a body here and a front end there, so if anyone has any leads, please contact me. We are wanting to make a bullet nose model. We are using a '94 Caprice chassis and the '51 has the right wheelbase.

Thanks,

I have a friend who is putting a 50 Champion Starlight body onto a Caprice police chassis and, while the track width is the same, I think you'll find you need to shorten the wheelbase by about 4 inches. A good frame shop can do that easily. Check and recheck your measurements before ripping and tearing. The longer wheelbase was on Commander models only through 1950. 1951 Commander and Champion are both shorter than the Caprice.

Let me correct myself.[B)]

47 through 50 Commanders were 119 inch wheelbase;
47 through 50 Champions were 112 inch.
In 1951 both models were 115 so the 51 model may suit you without modification, an earlier Champion would require shortening your Caprice chassis and an earlier Commander may require lengthening it.
