  • Weight of 63 2dr Sedan?

Whats the weight of a 63 2dr sedan with V8 and four speed?

    Thanks

Official Registration & Licensing Data says:
    63V-F4 2,925
    63V-F6 2,940
That's shipping weight. You'll add approx. 150 lbs. for fluids, subtract 5 lbs. for the 4-speed, add 19 lbs. for Climatizer, add 10 lbs. for radio & antenna.
Somehow though, these cars always wind up weighing out at least a couple hundred pounds more than that.

I always thought my '65 Cruiser (V8/auto/TT/PS/PDB) weighed a lot less then she actually does! The State of Washington now ads taxes to your yearly renewal based on vehicle weight, but they of course had no records for my car. I took her to get weighed and was handed a slip that said 3650! [:0] Of course the 1/2 tank of gas didn't help, but that's still alot more then I always figured she weighed. Yes, this was without my fat @55 sitting in the car!!!

As usual, I agree with Dwain. You can also add a '63 Standard two door sedan V8 at 2910 pounds.

The base shipping weights (pounds) for 1965 Cruisers are 2820 for a six and 3070 for a V8.

Isn't 3650 awfully heavy and a half tank of gas doesn't weigh that much at 6.5 pounds per gallon. I would have thought some 3600 pounds would be rather heavy for my Avanti let alone a sedan that by all accounts (I think) shouldn't go over 3100-3200 with fluids. Even water (the heavest of the fluids) is only 8-8.5 pounds per gallon. I'd have to question those scales, but I wouldn't know how unless the state weights and measures people could be convinced to check those scales.

              wagone and the R2 Avanti

My tools were in the trunk too, but they don't weigh that much, do they? [:0] I just wanted to be sure she was [u]under</u> 4K anyway, that's where they would've got me for more$$$. [)] [V] Now that I check the slip~ it was 3660! Where'd you find that number Gary? You must know the one place I didn't look! [B)]

According to the factory shipping document, my Lark weighed 2,984 pounds. This car was a factory R2-4speed-disc brake 2-door sedan. NO power steering, No Heater. I agree with others here though that Studebaker's stated shipping weights always seem low. My car from the factory was actually equipped almost exactly the same as Ted's, so I would go with his information, as he made the effort to actually have his car weighed.

2R2: Tell me more about your 62 R2. If it's a 62, is it a clone? The R2 option didn't come out until 63. However, I do know of a nice 62 Daytona HT with an R2 in it.

My typing mistake..my Lark is of course a '63. Factory R2-4speed-disc brake car. Currently running with a non R2 289, as I need to find the parts (and money) to assemble the correct engine.
