This unit has a BIN of $1500 and is located in San Bernardino, CA. It looks solid, some surface rust, nice rear bumper, ratty interior. It is a V-8 and 5 speed, which would be a super combo if it is an OD unit rather than direct. If this was close, I would be on the road now....

Wow! a 5-spd 1/2 ton. That's ALOT of tranny for a 1/2ton. IF it was 5th over, it's almost worth the BIN without the truck![:0]

Mr. Biggs,

Right you are! A number of years ago I dragged home what would have been a desirable truck when new, a HD 1963 E-40 on a 195" WB with 5 speed OD, cab grab handles, fender flares and 10.00 x 20 rubber. Unfortunately, it was pretty well rotted and I gave $250 for it (he initially asked $750) and hauled it from Harrisburg, PA to VA.

I sat on my lot for a while and a fellow approached me looking for a 5 OD unit. He made an offer on the truck and knowing what I had in it, I told him I would take a $100 less! He drove all the way from Texas to get the truck. Now I know what they are worth!

I'm probably headed to California in the next week or so. I'd love to haul something back to Washington. I've emailed the seller to find out about this truck (thanks for the heads up, Gary). If anybody has a rust free (or low rust) Stude in California or Oregon they want to part with, drop me a line...

Dick,

See my next post. Not nearly as nice as the other, but no reserve and some decent looking front sheet metal and the rare '54 grille.
