  • Looking for 2R truck gas tank

Hello everyone. I'm new to the group. I have just re-aquired my very first vehicle, a '53 2R6 (with the big 245 Commander). I sold this truck 10 years ago and after 3 other owners, it found me again. I couldn't resist buying it even though the last 10 years have apparently been pretty rough on it. There is rust everywhere. Including the gas tank--rusted clean through. No luck on ebay, no luck on the web vendors, nada. Does anybody have any idea where I could get a servicable replacement or know somebody who refurbishes them?

    Thanks,

    Ezra

I have a good gas tank from a 1956 2e5 truck. It is the same as a 2r6 with a vin number after r6-12245. The earlier gas tanks had the filler neck on the front bottom of the tank and the later trucks have the filler on the side top of the tank. The tank I have has the filler in the side top. If you are interested email me at lv2c3go@aol.com

I'm in San Antonio. I'm going to go visit the truck tonight (it's in my parent's barn) and I will check to see where the filler neck is.

Do you also happen to have any front passenger-side fenders or a hood?

I wasn't expecting such a quick response, much less two. Thank you both!

It appears that the filler neck is at the top front end of the tank

If you have your VIN number, we have the parts catalog. We can verify which tank you need.
