  • 2 piece driveshaft support removal

I need to remove the front driveshaft on my 63 champ so that I can have it modified (shortened) to accomodate the 700R4 transmission I am installing in the truck. Also need to measure from the transmission yoke to the driveshaft support. How do you separate these driveshafts and do you have to remove the support to do it? Any information on how to go about this will, as always, be very appreciated!

I believe the bearing in the driveshaft support is pressed on to the driveshaft. You remove the whole thing as an assembly and then press the bearing off the shaft. Be aware that the rubber doughnut that holds the grease in the bearing is NLA. Maybe somebody knows if any vendor is reproducing them.
