  • What is a 1963 Studebaker GT Hawk worth?

What is a complete 1963 Studebaker GT Hawk worth in non-running condition? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    RAYJ

If it's a rough parts car, in the $300-$1000 range, up to 3-4K or more if it's a decent car that just needs a battery and some TLC.

Sorry, I am new at this. It's a project car, but definately restorable.

I guess what I should have asked is what a complete 1963 Studebaker GT Hawk project car in #5 condition is worth? Can any Studebaker experts help me out here? Is $7,500 too much to pay for one? It has some rust, but not a lot.

        Thanks,

for $7500 IMHO it should run and be 99% rust free.

I agree with Nate. For $7500 you should be able to get a running, driving car that looks good. One you could use as a daily driver immediately. A #5 car that doesn't run and has some rust should be in the $1500-$3000 range. If you have a more complete description and/or pictures, that would help set the value.

As the owner of a '63 GT myself, I'd agree with the others here. Don't let the seller of such a car bamboozle you with claims of "rarity". GTs are pretty common cars, as Studebakers go, and their survival rate seems to have been quite high. The result is; there are plenty of decent ones out there, and also plenty of rusty dogs.

Do yourself a favor, and don't fall into the trap of buying the first one you see because you haven't seen one before. That is a classic pitfall for first-time buyers of any kind of collectable car. Take the time to view at least two or three; peruse the pages of Turning Wheels (join SDC from this site), and search eBay and Craig's List. I guarantee you there will be GTs out there in better shape for less money.

Would a $4,500 to $5,000 be a fair offer for this car?

NO. i bet Dick or Mr Biggs can find you one that actually runs for that.

Do you have to have a 63,or would a 62 GT do? The reason I ask is there are many more 62's out there than 63-64's.Thus you can get a nice one for less.
If the car your looking at has a supercharger,a Jet Thrust model, than its a whole different animal, worth much more. For an ordinary 63 GT,7500 is a lot for a #5 condition car. Keep in mind though, depending on where you live,if their are very few in your area and you where to buy one on E-Bay from a long ways away, your shipping expenses could be 1500-2000k.

Speaking of R-1's, and 1964 GT's.. what would be a fair price for a fairly good one, a good #3 or entry #2, with powershift..

                          Tks,

I've sold condition 2 GT Hawk show cars in the 16K range. A 3 would be more in the 10K range. BTW, most cars you see on the show grounds are 3's, the first place cars are sometmes a 2, but not always.

JDP, I'm curious what the price differential would be on comprable GT's, say #2 condition, between a 289, R1 and R2. Can you give us a guess?
