  • Caution! Non-Stude content!

Yeahbut.... it's a cool danged truck. Reminds me alot of Stude's Fast Express K-series offerings.

My friend, Keith (see thread in tech talk column) recently got this COOL Diamond T pickup truck. Man, this thing is built like the proverbial brick outhouse! Little bitty Continental 6 with a 4-speed and the cast, spoked 16" wheels. I was in love the moment I laid eyes on it!

    BTW - on it's data plate, there's a warning: "Do not exceed 54MPH" ![:0]

I hate to rain your parade, but the Hudson pickups are even neater looking - more svelt.

Keith's not sure. I'm thinking it's late 30s - early 40s. Of course, it could be early postwar too.[?]

There are two of these running around Florida. I see them a big truck shows at the 75 Chrome Shop from time to time. And the local welder supply house has two cabs, but not much else. I remember having to call on some customers in Chicago off of Cicero Ave that were in the old Diamond T factory plant. Big ol' empty place, but their rent was cheap.

I Googled Diamond T and found some pretty cool photos. Also found the cab and chassis to one in Minot,ND for sale, the place also had a Stude 1 1/2 ton cab and chassis (1950?). Pretty interesting, the stuff you can find on this here computer thingy[^] Kevin in the Stoogebaker

Keith has got an S-10 chassis that he wants to lengthen about 20 inches to accomodate the T's wheelbase. I chuckled when he told me about his plans. I'd have my doubts that the S-10 chassis would HOLD up under that monster of a body![xx(]

Those Diamond Ts (later Diamond Reos) were very rugged trucks, but also very underpowered and slow.
I don't think Id consider a S-10 powertrain for it(or anything else),but a Stude 289 outta make it go down the road.
Probaly have to swap the rear end for more top end too.
