I like it too! This would be the only engine swap that I would really like to do to a Stude C/K. Not sure about the headlights though? As far as the tranny, I bet it is a 200-4R not a 700-R4. I don't think the 700-R4 will bolt up to the GN V6. The 200-4R used in the GN was supposedly a special build and tougher than the 700R4 used during that era.

Looks to be nicely executed. But I don't like the "Porsche" headlight treatment. I mean - they saw fit to maintain the rest of Bourke's classic artistry and then hacked the headlites back. It's almost as if they did it just to prove they did something custom.
Of course - their car, not mine.

      Miscreant at large.

Super nice. It looks they really went all out to build that car, and it is impressive. The 'cedes headlights definitely enhance the styling of this car. The GN drivetrain swap and Camaro subframe are some seriously crafty re-engineering. Interior looks great. The only thing that would suit my preferences better would've been more exterior chrome-- bumpers, tailight housings, door handles, and the quarter moldings contrasted by that dark green paint.

Who are you, and what have you done with Packebaker?

I have seen the headlight treatment before, and it still has not "grown" on me. (I''m not sure this isn't the car that sold on ebay a while back on ebay, from Canada.)

The only graphics I like on the car is on the trunk. But, that is why there are so many shapes, sizes, and colors of things... we all have different tastes. Other than the headlights and graphics, this is just how I would do it if I had it do do over again. This car makes 'Sheba look like an amateur job. (Which she is.) [8D]

I agree about the headlights, nicely done, but they look somehow "wrong" to me. BTW, Sheba is the pretty girl next door, the ebay rod is a porn star, both have their place.

Don't worry, kids--I won't be doing any of that to the Packebaker, because it had already suffered enough Kustomizing before it even left South Bend! The bidding on the 54 has six days to run, is at 18k, and hasn't met the reserve. Care to take any guesses as to the top bid?

When Mercedes first came out with that headlight design (86-87) I had an artist friend sketch me out a 53 Stude with those lights set in it. He made me several different drawings and I still have them in my "Studebaker's Finest" book. The headlight treatment seems to work best when the hood is "nosed" to blend with the headlight angle.
The black 54 is very nicely done.

I wonder if some early Porsche 911 headlights might not look a little more appropriate than the Mercedes lights? They're just a little more upright and wouldn't detract so much from the line of the front fender.

                          just a thought,

The car is very nice...About 4 years ago my wife and I took a long weekend and drove to Canada to look at the car and drive it. It's as nice as it looks and boy does it go and handle well. At that time the man who built the car wanted $24,000.

Very nicely executed ... but those rims just DONT work, too dated.
