  • Here's how I spent my New Years

And I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather be doing!

Here's me trying to hide behind the engine after we got 'er out. The drivetrain is now resting comfortably at a fellow Studebaker fans garage.

Just waiting for some V8 power:

Lots to do before an engine sits back between those frame rails. I pulled the drivers fender tonight. It was a fun job since a previous owner had the bottom of the fender welded to the rockers [xx(] and there was a heavy (and I mean heavy!) layer of undercoating covering just about everything including the fender bolts. I was surprised to find the same undercoating on the cowl behind the fenders. I suspect this was added early in the car's life as the paint was perfect underneath it.
    Here's where I'm at now:

I also scored some new parts thanks to Ray Martin! I now have NOS tail light lenses, a grille surround, a V8 emblem for the grille and the chrome ring for the trunk emblem. Now all I need is the V8 insert for this ring. Anyone?

Ray is doing well. Quite a garage he has-painted up in the Studebaker colors with lots of original banners etc. Quite nice! His Paxton supercharged 4 speed 63 Commander is cool too!
Tom: It's nice to get that 65 out of here! Now I can breath

Making progress! You'll need some new front springs to go with the V8 emblem.[:I] Along with a few other things, of course[^]
That OHV6 and T-35 look clean. Cleaner than the rest of the car![:0]

Ya , Rays got a nice set up there in Sparta . I usually go up and see him every year at least once to see whats hes up to . This fall he was starting his C cab truck project I'm sure hes well on his way by now. He always amazes me how much he gets done in such a short time , ya know hes not a spring chicken anymore !

                Hey, Todd.

I have your car's twin. It was an extremely nice driver, but abarn roof fell in on it. I am deciding whether it is worth it to put a new roof on it (I have one, but haven't tackled anything that big) or part it out.

I have its cousin; a 63 Daytona HT with a 6 cylinder. Mine came out of a pond...

For Christmas, I got a set of tires and a NOS grille surround. BTW, we have one of those little plastic V-8 trunk emblems laying in the shop somewhere. It's an original, and it looks it. To look nice I think it would probably need to be repainted.

<<I sure do remember that car...in fact I was thinking about buying it back then but it seemed to disappear Never to be seen again >>

                          My second cousin in Lockport, New york bought it- stuck it in a garage- put the hood up- and let it sit for 13 years because the dufus couldn't drive a stick ( my cousin hd to drive it home for him}

I bought it when his mom told him to get it out of her garage

And even though I like Ray-- be glad you didn't buy it
It's proven to not be one of his better cars
It'll look the same when it comes out of the body shop- but it's almost been totally rebuilt and the next time it goes 10 miles from my house without breaking down-- will be the first time

By the way-- I couldn't access the pics-- you have to sign in
