View Full Version : SDC Forum T-shirt?

BShaw

I'm thinking we need an official SDC Forum t-shirt. If we did one would anyone buy it? The shirt would be produced by Bill Glass (Bondo Billy) and sold through the SDC Store and at events Bill will be attending. The price of the shirt could be as much as $15. (Yeah, there are way cheaper t-shirts everywhere but none more prestigious and collectible.)

Following are some ideas I've put together for general comment. Many are similar but have variations on the text. If you have a preference either indicate it here or send me a private email.

If you are a graphic artist or have a connection to one, and you wish to submit your own idea, get to work pronto and send me a JPG or PDF as I want to have these available for South Bend.

In addition, I am going have a button made for use at South Bend. They'll probably be 3" pin-backs and they'll probably sell for a buck, maybe two bucks, depending on quantity. Note that the buttons have a space for you to write in your forum username and are intended to ID yourself and also to wear when your prestigious forum t-shirt is in the wash. As I am doing this just cuz it seems like a good idea I really don't have time or patience to pack up and mail individual buttons. But, I would make sure Bill Glass has a supply on hand so he can include one button free with every forum t-shirt order.

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h53/StudeRobert/Forum-Button.gif

Anyway, if one of the designs pops out at you more than others (or conversely turns your stomach) let me know. And, as I mentioned earlier, if you want to submit a design candidate, you are welcome to do so.

I vote for the pin idea, too.
I have too many of Bbill's shirts that are trashed and not worthy of wearing to an SDC function...
(But he knows that;))
Jeff[8D]
PS: But I lose all my pins and labels, so it's a moot point[V]

Can I put in a request for a Pocket T Shirt? And how about a color other than white (ash grey comes to mind). Thanks.

I won't be able to wear one at South Bend but certainly at Lancaster and events in between.

Dennis,

Where are you originally from? I went to high school with a Dennis Napier in Virginia whose dad delivered mail in a Studebaker Rural Router. Are you one and the same?

Definitely design #1 (it looks great!), but with one change. Use a less cursive font for the text at the bottom "Talkin' Studebakers 24/7". Maybe the Comic Sans or something a little less busy than the current font (but still on the casual side).

1 and 9 are both good, leaning toward 1 I guess as 9 has been done by numerous people - the style I mean. I'd buy one depending on cost to post it down here. What about putting design #6 on the back so the front says "Forum" and the back "let's talk Studebaker's?"
We could wear the button to Stude club functions and maybe someone will recognize us?

Perhaps the badge could come with our Name and forum "Handle" attached using a "Dymo" (c)label, would be neater than some of our handwriting no doubt[:I]

I agree with Dick, I think any of the designs are OK - I'd get one.

For the SW ZM a few years ago, I made up a pin showing a 3/4 view of a computer monitor, with
SDC
NG
on the screen.

That wouldn't work here, I'm afraid.

Make enough up, whatever design, have them at SB and I'll buy at least one. I'd admire to have a hat pin, too.

Please use QUALITY material ( Haynes ) that will last and not shrink too much and silk screen the design to last longer. I'll buy definately.

I would agree with geojerry...use quality and 100%
preshrunk cotton, rather than a "cotton/poly" blend,
so that the size you order will be the size you get as
the "blends" tend to be a almost a size smaller than
advertised. That is my .05 cents... pocket... is optional
with me, though it will drive the price.

I guess I like 5, 6 and 7, but I'd go with any of them. I like the idea of gray shirts- remember, some of us Studebaker guys get pretty dirty.

We only use Hanes Beefy-T or Gildan, most screen printers use a 50/50 as it is easier to print on. Back in the 90's there was a shirt that was sold by the MILLIONS, it was called ScreenStars best. It was a 50/50 and had a harder surface to allow detail. The non screen printed shirts you refer to are done because it is no longer cost effective to print small runs of 5 and 8 color shirts, or shirts that have continiuos tone. The Forum shirt will be Hanes Beefy-t and will be printed with screened ink and have what is known as a soft hand. In the next 5 years you will no longer see screen printed shirts. Everything is going digital.

Well, I guess the obvious questions are (1) Which design will it be? (2) What color(s)are available? (3) When will they be available? (4) What will the price be (also foreign Airmail Cost)?

My choice would be #2 or #3. Once a choice is made, nearly any shirt design or color could be printed? Not white for this dirty old man.......
