  • 61 Lark Master Cylinder

Anyone know a Napa or other make kit number for a 61 Lark Master Cylinder kit or complete master cylinder replacment? Unit is a single master cylinder. If you know the piston seal size that might help too. Thanks.

Thanks, appreciate the leads. Was going to part it out for the frame but got the motor running and might be salvageable once I get brakes on her.

Dont know if this will actually help you but i have a 63 lark and i used a NAPA # 36237 MC for my car. It originally had a single line master cylinder and i wanted a double line. I'm pretty sure it'll work for a 61.

Do you happen to know what that part number fits originally?

                    1. Find a friend who's reeeeeal patient and has strong legs!

                    2. Be patient![:0] It often takes a week before anything comes back in the mail.[}]

                    3. Buy a real big bottle of brake fluid.[:0] No! Buy two!

                    4. Bleed the hell out of them brakes when you install that cylinder. There's probably a lot of old crap in the lines that needs flushing out.[B)]

                    5. Replace all of the flexible brake hoses as soon as possible (don't honk off that friend, you'll need'im again).

                    Sorry.[:I] I could'nt resist!

Hmmm...proplem already....my car is a '62 Cruiser with 259/auto...has the single type m/c....so I ordered a NAPA # 36237 from the local NAPA store...seems my m/c has 4 bolts holding it on and the NAPA one has 2.....any chance it will still work?

My 63 Daytona has the dual M/C setup, and from Advance Auto Parts, I ordered the M/C for a 74 Jeep. It works great too! I can't remember the number though...

If your 61 has any original brake lines I'd take the opportunity to replace them all. There's no more secure feeling than cruising in a Stude with all fresh hydraulics.

I'll agree with you there. I replaced everything on the front of my Daytona so far, and I love that feeling. I really haven't gotton the car too far away from the shop or gotton too fast to need rear brakes yet. [:0]
