  • Shasta White paint chip needed

As the subject says, I would like to borrow a Shasta White paint chip that I can use for color matching. It's my understanding that this is the common "white" color that was used as the white top on the two-tone 55 trucks, as well as most truck wheels, lettering on the tailgate, etc....

You can email me for my mailing address. I'll cover your postage, of course, and get the paint chip back to you within a month.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Paint chips are a great way to get an idea of what a certain color name looks like, but using a paint chip, especially an old one, is not a reliable way to get a color match. Here is a sample of the Shasta white (mispelled even!)

The old codes generally are unusable today, although some of the major paint manufacturers can cross the old codes over to their modern code and mix paint that way. I understand this was the only two-tone offered:

Call them with the year and color name and they'll

give you the modern paint code.

our paint store places a 'meter' over the paint that's on the car. This gives a code to mix the proper color.
