  • Production Order

Good Morning Everyone. Just receieved a copy of the production orde of the Avanti I'm restoring & I have a question that someone could help me with.

On the sheet, under description, it says 14 923 TQV. Does anyone know what that is ? It also says the car came with twin traction. Is this the same as GM's posi traction ?

    Thanks for the help.

don't know about the code, but "Twin Traction" is Stude-speak for a limited slip differential. It was a clutch type limited slip, similar to a Positraction. I'm not sure if the limited slip unit was made by Dana (probably) or someone else...?

Studebaker used Dana rears for most, if not all, of their vehicles. The Avanti would have been a Dana 44 limited slip (Twin Traction) rear. Same idea as GM positraction.

        Dana made the whole rear.

"14 923 TQV" is a turquoise, vinyl, interior.
Mine is black vinyl, and reads "14 813 BKV" on the build sheet.

GM used a goofy governor set up in their posis in my opinion pretty crappy. the dana clutch pak is far superior and will outlast gm's 2 to 1 at least
