Trailer Curse Of The Studebaker "Driver's" Club
(Now don't take this all wrong....)
Seems there's a cloud following me regarding trailers and Studebakers..
I can tow them safely thousands of miles.
It's loading them that gets me in trouble.
(Well, not all Stude's, but this one).
Seems she does not like to go on to a trailer...
She want's, no... demands to be [u]driven</u>!)
Took the yellow truck down to Florida last month for the NCFSDC chapter meeting at 'The Villages'...
Trailered it, as we had some furniture to deliver to our youngest daughter's place in Florida...
Since it is hard to see out of, I asked my oldest daughter to spot me loading it.
She spotted me all right, right into the fender of the trailer
(4 week old paint....[V])
Had fun at the show, and brought it home and parked it so she could see it every day when she left for work[}]..
A new collision center is opening fairly close to the new house, so I went and talked to the owner about fixing the boo-boo. We chatted about using the truck for some publicity shots for his new shop. He agree'd to give me a massive discount on the repair if I were to bring the truck over to his place all gussied up for next Wednesday.
Seems that is the day the Chamber of Commerce is holding their new business ribbon cutting ceremony, and they are having the local newspaper, the radio stations (2), and the local TV stations out to cover the festivities...
Timing [u]is</u> everything!
They had me take off the running board, the engine side cover, and the spare tire, so they could re-shoot the entire fender.
They didn't want any tape lines on there.
Gave it to them to fix on Wednesday, and got a call at noon yesterday... All done! Picked it up after work yesterday afternoon...
So now all I have to do is put it back together and do the normal show prep..
Did I say timing was everything?
After the ceremony on Wednesday... The SDC SE Zone meet is on Friday/Sat/Sun....
I don't even have to clean it twice

Believe it or not I was in the front room watching the news an thinking about should I trailer the 48 to Tennessee next week or drive it. I come in the office and the first thing I see is Jeff's post on trailer queens. I have never trailered a car to a car show but am thinking about doing it this time. We will be making a 1500 mile round trip. I might be sorry.

Nah, not a curse. He just doesn't want to ride on such a common trailer. Your prince wants a palace to ride in. If you weren't on the wrong coast, Jeff, I'd offer you mine:

I bought a 24' enclosed Haulmark before I bought the yellow truck..
(That's what I brought it home in, and hid it from the wife for a while...which is a funny story in itself[B)])...
I was offered about twice what I paid for it, and didn't even have a pickup to pull it at the time, and let the trailer go. Now I regret doing that sometimes... Oh well...

Yeah, Rockne, that's a nice looking trailer. However, It's heavy enough that it would take a semi to tow, and I don't care what fancy gimcrack suspension he put on it, all that weight on the rear is a problem. Besides, not all of us have the money to spend (nor would want to) on that kind of a whim.
But, hey, what do I know? It really looks nice. Anybody know if he's using it yet?
