View Full Version : 59 Lark wagon clarification needed

Is it true that all 1959 Lark station wagons are 2 doors and the 4-door Lark wagon was introduced for the 1960 model year? I need clarification one way or the other. Thanks.

Yes, it's true. The 4-dr wagon and the convertible debuted in '60 ;)

There is a wonderfully bad radio ad from 1960 with the line "The new Lark wagon, with four convenient doors, it's styled for fun and frolic but built for chores".

Scary that I remember that, but it would be even scarier if you could hear me sing it! <BG>

Yes, it's scary how much stuff is stored inside the inner reaches of our mind. Just the other day, I was singing the Studebaker theme for the '56s. "Big new, big new Studebaker. Craftmanship with a flair. The only car in the low-price field that's really, really new".
I should get a life.

Oh Gosh! I thought it was just me. I can break out in the "Mr.Ed" theme song at the drop of a hat!!!

"It's delightful, it's delovely, it's Desoto."

"You'll grow a little bit lovelier each day with fabulous, pink Camay." (A toilet soap.)

Birds of Thunder make me shudder
and Solaras get me burned
Azteks make you wonder why
and leave my stomach churned.:(

Then there's Vipers and there's Cobras
which can master snakey road
And there's too, the boxy Yugo
a loathsome, 4-wheeled toad.:(

There's Explorers, Expeditions
and Excusions all about
I guess they all could serve you
if a journey trips you out.[8]

With a Javelin, you'll throw a rod
with a Hornet you get stung
With a Pacer you get laughed at
not a group that I'm among.[xx(]

The big 3 have shrunk to 2
and one of them ain't healthy
It matters not to me you see
for I'm not new car wealthy.[V]

No, I cling steadfast onto the past
and proudly where I park
I confess to all admirers
yes, that's my lovely Lark.;)

From sunrise onto sunset
and even after dark
I'm happy in my Studebaker
my Studebaker Lark! :D
