To each his own. Someone will want it and pay well for it so don't damage it. I think most of us are on your team.

Some of the kits look nice, however that one looked out of place and "Tacked-on" instead of something that may have come from the factory.

I KNEW when I saw that car that it looked like another one that belonged to someone here, I just couldn't remember who.

Wow! What a story. If I owned the car I would have to sell it to you. It almost seems like your holy grail.

I don't know if you believe in fate, but I do.

As soon as I read your message, I called the hubby to make sure he hadn't touched it yet. He agreed to just take it down to bare metal and put it up for sale like that first. Do you want it? Similar to your oath, which I admire greatly, we try to keep the projects down to a few at a time, and buy-fix-sell other cars that we come along to finance our own "'sheba"'s.....this was one of them..... Funny enough, in the 7 years Iíve been with him, this is the first time I have ever researched or talked about a car we bought. I knew that continental kit was a rare thing, i've never seen a stud with one. This is the first time i've ever gotten in a chat room, or been to a particular car clubs' site, and believe me we turn a few cars a year. One thing I can tell you for sure that should ease your mind is that your continental is in the hands of a true expert. No bragging about me, I just list em, and order parts, but the hubby is a real old timer when it comes to cars. He's a modest one, but a very talented, dedicated, knowledgeable and meticulous man. I guess when your raised up around it in flint Michigan it comes natural. There's no shortage of geezers here, and he learned from some of the most gruff, gravely geezers around. Which is an education you can't buy with a million dollars in our opinion. We have full intention on selling this car. If you or anyone are interested in it, please let me know. You can also call me or the hubby at 989-865-8758 or 989-7552-7448shop.

Hey Studedude. The guy you sold it to wouldn't happen to be Ken Brake. In Guthrie I've know him for about 25 years.

Oh, I forgot to tell you our part of the saga,
we bought it two weeks ago from a farmer in Bridgeport, MI (between flint and saginaw) who had 3 of them, we also bought a 74 vette from the guy....
His name is also Bob, funny. He had it for about 3-5 years, he likes Studebaker a lot, but never got it together to finish these, the car has been in an open door barn the whole time and its still in great shape. A square piece has been cut out of the floor, mustve been a dropped section, (or a hump) in the middle of the rear seat, was it for extra leg room? but its still in the trunk and in good shape....http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/th.7d19cab43d.jpg (http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?7d19cab43d.jpg)

What can you tell me about where it was before you??....Was the kit put on it in Cali or there in OK? The hubby was wishing it was a Valley custom......wouldn't that be nice....but he's impressed with the quality it was installed.

good thing is that we've got the other 2 cars full of parts, including frames, interior, pretty much everything for a full restore.

south bend makes sense. a guy called me on it and said there were two schools of thought on the kit, some believe that it was only aftermarket and some claim there were a few years it was a factory add on, in addition to all the cobbled kits out there, what do you say?

This was not a factory add-on or accessory. There were a few different continental kits made by different companies to fit Studebakers. Some extended the fenders/quarter panels and some didn't.
