Golden Hawk Door panels

I want to keep the original upholstery in my 57 GH restoration project- there are some places on the bronze- looking mylar insert in the door panels where the color has been rubbed thin, showing a silver color underneath.

Has anyone had any luck with painting over that stuff?

If you find some suitable transparent Gold Lacquer paint to try on it, I would test it on the part that wraps around the back of the panel.

Most any GOOD automotive paint store can mix up vinyl dye to match..(Spray on)

Yeah but...this is Gold/Bronze FOIL/Mylar, the quilted kind not vinyl !

Or spray-on window tint in bronze/gold. That would probably work well for your application.

Update- I couldn't find the spray on window tint, but I got a can of Rustoleum Antique Brass Metallic #7274.

It was pretty close and looks great

Try a good shoe repair place.
They have all sorts of spray shoe dye, including gold metallic's...
Works great on vinyl..
