As I was watching TV last evening an advertisement came on for the 2010 line of Dodge trucks. The ad referred to them as "Haul of Fame" [8D] models... sound familiar???[^]

Does not seem to be many original ideas anymore. ;):)

:D Mark: Are they still referring to them as DODGE trucks in Canada? In the United States, there is a concerted effort to phase out the Dodge name and refer to the trucks as simply RAM trucks.

On the 2010 United States issue "Dodge" Ram trucks, the name Dodge appears very small only one place on the outside of the truck, at the top of a large RAM emblem on the tailgate. But you have to squint to see the word Dodge cast in the emblem above the huge Ram's head.

'Just wondered if they were taking the same marketing tack in Canada.[?] [8D]BP

"Dodge" is definitely front and centre in the ads... the web site is even advertsied as "dodge.ca".;)

Yes, Bob, I actually paid attention to that at this year's new car & truck show. Indeed, the ONLY place is on top of the chrome emblem above the the Ram emblem on the tailgate.

They can try all the name games and advertising tricks they want, but in the end it is still a Chrysler product. This means that in 4 years the paint will fade, the upholstery will need duct tape to hold it together and smoke will be coming out of the tail pipe. I say this as a proud owner of 2 Chrysler vehicles. [B)]

Don't confuse Dodge Ram trucks with other Chrysler vehicles. The trucks they make will stack up against other trucks quite nicely.

Shame,shame.
Plagiarism is one of the finest forms of flattery.:D
Even Toyota borrowed the name Land Cruiser for its 4WDs that sell well over here.I wonder how many Studebaker names have been used by others over time or for that matter, how many Studebaker names ,if any, were borrowed from others [?][?]
Talking about Dodges.we had a 1949 Dodge pickup on the farm in the early 60's.For Australia,it was a BIG vehicle ( much bigger than the Holden and Ford utes of the era.[^] The only bad habit it had was the passenger door would fly open at times when doing a hard right turn and eject the passenger at 40 m.p.h...ME[V]. Luckily the paddocks weren't too hard to land on your head, but you had to miss the malley roots first.:)

The Toyota Land Cruiser demands such respect
over here, that you almost never hear the type
of comparative stories/lies? told by the fans
of respective manufacturers where a Cruiser
is depicted as the loser:)

I might ad that the Land Rover crowd is
ridiculed in about 80% of these kind of
tales(with good reason[}:)])

So if nothing else, the original model name has not
suffered by Toyota's use thereof.
