  • Pictures of GT hawk trunk overlays?

    Hey guys,

I picked up the GT hawk trunk overlay I talked of awhile back; one I'd like to repair and sell. Does anyone have pictures of what a GT hawk trunk overlay "should" look like? In original finish?

This is for a '62 if that makes a difference.

    Thanks!

They are all different,I like the 64 the best and the easiest to repair.

Sure, the 64 overlay is the simplest and the easiest to repair. Gotcha. I like simplicity too. And I'm a CASO.

I know, but the '64 style is abit out of my price range at the moment. [)]

The inset squares are painted black on a '62 only, and the inset around the 'STUDEBAKER-HAWK' is painted black on the '63 only. Any exposed aluminum should be shiny. You may find pics of these on E-bay as there have been some for sale.

Here is a link to a '63 overlay on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/63-Studebaker-GT...item3caca56801
Oh, I forgot to mention that a '62 overlay has the letters painted black. It's basically completely opposite of a '63 overlay when it comes to areas being painted. I believe the paint should either be gloss black or semi-gloss black.

Sounds like this one may be a '63 then. Thanks for the info!

I haven't uploaded any pics yet; but it has the black at the bottom, none in the squares, and no painted letters.

That's a tough one Dave! Of the maybe SEVEN GREEN cars I see, my best guess is the one directly behind and to the LEFT of the crowd of Black shirted people, maybe the car beyond the '65 has it's hood up. [?]
