If you had ten questions you would like to ask Andy Granatelli, what would they be?

How much ZDDP is really in STP? The current owners of STP will not publish the Zinc and Phosphate levels so we Studebaker owners are using other products.

It is a serious question....
But remember... Andy is 87 years old, and some of these things happened 50 years ago...
I am looking for a few legit questions.
The best and worst rememberances are on the list.
Let's see a few more.
Give it some thought.

I wonder what his reply would be TODAY to the "R" Series Question. I read somewhere he said it stood for "Race" I would really like to know who coined the R series engines phrase and what it really stood for.

Who really were the guys in management who were committed to saving Studebaker vehicle production and who actually were speed bumps that ultimately led to diversification? What was his favorite Studebaker to drive out of all that he experimented with until 1963? And did he have a favorite he tweaked in the later years?

Come to the AOAI Banquet at Glendale. Perhaps Vince Granatelli may be able to answer some of these questions. You don't have to be an AOAI member. Just need to be registered for the meet.

#1.) When will the "Andy Granatelli Hall of Fame Museum" in Auburn, Indiana actually open?

#2.) Need more specific location (address) where the "Granatelli House" is located in South Bend.

#3 thru #10 he answered the last time we spoke.:)

With the famed "R5" engine in a Avanti, they took it to 196.62 mph. Does he think they could have got a little more top end performance out of it; if they had the time? What would he have done different on that engine; if he had a chance to redo it?

The opening day question has already been asked...and not answered.
That is something that Andy does not have a lot of control over as of right now.

I'll ask the question, but don't know if there will be a remembered answer..That was a long time ago.

Was the "Due Cento" just an experimental Avanti and engine to get you into the "200" club? Was it ever going to be put into production? Did Bendix try to adapt its multi-port electronic fuel injection system "Electrojector" on a 304 engine? Would that have been the R5, a 304 with fuel injection and supercharged? What if Studebaker had purchased Bendix or just the I.F. system like Bosch did. They could have perfected the electronics and had "Jetronic" fuel injection on their "Jet Thrust" engine the Rocket 5 (R5).

Wow, that is interesting! A real all American Co. that stayed small for a LOT of years, unheard-of except in the few States they are located in, BUT...are the #2 highest profit fast food chain in the Country! [:0]

The little Co. that COULD, that nobody heard of!!

All except for the high profits, that reminds me of Studebaker! [^]

Serious Question- When The Studebaker Corperation museum loaned you the 1932 Indy race car for promotion purposes, did you think that was permanant? And don't you think it belongs back in South Bend?

Jeff,

Andy answered #3 thru 10 (& a lot more:D) here in South Bend when he was inducted into the "Studebaker Hall of Fame" back in 2002. After the dinner & presentation part, he pulled up a chair and "talked everything Studebaker" for an hour or more. For those of us who stuck around after the ceremony, he talked & answered questions for possibly another hour. The true "Studebaker Gentleman" he is, he handed me his personal contact info card and said to call him if I wanted to know more. I still have that card, but never wanted to bother him.

IIRC, our Sir Richard Quinn had that ceremony video taped. His own tape recorder and camera worked overtime during the "gab session" that followed. How 'bout it Richard, does that video tape and your personal recordings still exist and would you "care-to-share" with us all[?]

Does Andy see any future applications for a turbine engine?
