Old Stude Trucks

I went out to my grandparents' place to get a few shots of the hand crank in the '51 2R16, and we ended up taking it and my '59 out in the field for little photo shoot. And, typical me, I've got to share a few of them... [)]

Hey, look! A Studebaker truck coming up the road!

Great photos! Love the one with the wto trucks by the hay bale. When did Studebaker stop supplying a hand crank with trucks?

I'm not sure when the last year for the hand crank was, but I'd guess 1956. The grill on the '56 didn't have a hole, but there was a little cutout at the bottom. Later trucks with the fiberglass grill did not.

I don't know how true this is, but somebody told me that although some of the later C-cabs had the hole in the grill, the pully on the engine was not designed to take the crank.

The hand crank was listed in parts book as for export trucks only.
The trucks had a "jaw,crank starting" held on by the engine crank bolt.
They were listed for all engines until at least 1961, I didnt bother to look in the 7E/8E book.
