  • Color pics of '56 Packard Caribbean/delivery day

These five photos in the link below, were taken in front of the Carl E. Filer Co. in Greenville, PA in July 1956. The car is serial no. 5699-1258 and I'm told the car was sold for $48K at the Amelia Island, FL auction in 2004. I saw the car in NC in 1998 and it looked beautiful.

I'm so low tech, or I'd have posted several of the color photos of the Filer dealership here. The Packard Info site had a photo of Filer's (same one as in my signature line), and I showed Carl Jr. last week and he said, "Why don't you send him one of the Caribbean we sold?" So, I sent him all five. They were rightly proud to deliver a Caribbean...one of only 276 convertibles built that year and only 18 cars from the last Packard convertible.

That is one beautiful car. I believe I would look good going down the road in that.

I really like the variety of tri-tone paint schemes that Packard offered in 1955-56. If I ever buy a large car, it will be a 1955 or 56 Carribean.
