New window surround minus the rain gutter, guess what fits under that extended dash? COOL A/C

For sure......I was thinking of putting it up for a poll.
What steering wheel would you choose? I have a few under consideration, but nothing really jumps out at me. Must be 14-15 inch wheel. [:0] Any bigger and it's in my viewing "zone" [:0]

I recently saw a Lark converted so the
whole front end tilts forward,
The guy also fabricated a solenoid switch
to open the front end, with the switch
in some obscure position to also add to
security.Crude, but i suppose efficient.
But by comparison yours looks factory fitted

Great progress, Glad you posted.

I don't want to be wet blanket but you'll soon be in double digits on weeks to go. Pressure, Pressure!!

A question - How are you chopping the glass? Sandblaster, kerosene and cutter,[?][?].

I'd probably leave the steering wheel decision until I had the dash and the rest of the interior close to done. I think what you want will jump out at you when you reach that point.

In any case, great work and keep posting.

Thanks for posting these updated pictures! Looks like high quality work,I do like the lower look of the stock rear window. Its nice to see a 61 getting this much attention,since I feel they are overlooked. Ed

Good question:
Study the photo's and you'll see that the glass is the exact same piece. The front has become a pattern and will be cut again and become a pattern for the rear. (why this piece is a pattern in the first place is another story.)
Remanufactured, stock size 61 glass, set ablaze with an alcohol mixture. ((cutting) Not by me, I wouldn't want the job of breaking one and saying to a customer you need to buy another,)

Hoping the plan works: The ends of the glass (red dots in photo) will be cut away and allow the glass to rest closer to the roof line. Some metal work will need to be done on the C pillar and roof line, For a smooth finished line. It will look different, but don't think it will offend the eye. The front glass, after being cut down, is surprisingly close in shape to a stock rear piece.
As you can see, it's not a real stretch to get this to fit, and hopefully get a car show response of what's the rear glass? or no response what so ever because it looks factory..? However the Forum will know.


Now if your wondering: What about the witdth? Near spot on after being cut. Dotted lines (both sides) are the area to be trimmed, the only departure from the stock frame area is along the deck area, and at the C pillar. Once glass is trimmed I'll have a better idea what needs to be done here. (couple weeks)

Cool make sure to post pics after the glass is fit, as you know a curved rear window opening makes it real to chop the top with out just making a mess and that is why many customs end up with a totaly differant and flat rear glass or with the window sunk into the trunk.
