  • Anyone know this Idaho 53 coupe??

We've been looking for a 53 or 54 coupe for some time. We would like to find a good solid driver for summer cruising. We don't want a show car but a good presentable car to do some driving with. Does not need to be stock. This is on eBay currently. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this car?

    Thanks in advance.

I think the hood issue is just an optical illusion from all the shadows.

While I'd be reluctant to buy it without an inspection, It has all the makings of a nice driver if the car resembles the description.

It is a great value at this price but it'll go higher by the number of bids already in.

It would take serious money to take a rusty body to this level.

        Nice car.

Does anyone else think that hood came from a sedan? It looks too flat to be from a c/k.

After looking at all the photos of the hood, I too, come away with the feeling that its just the way the shadows hit the hood in some pix. I've got 3 54 Coupes and a 53 Hardtop as well as 3 extra hoods here at the house right now, and I think it looks normal. But thats just my opinion..

It looks like someone (the restorer, perhaps?) removed all of the lettering from the hood and trunk and left only the trim on the rear fenders. We might be missing these visual cues that we expect from a 53.

You can't put a sedan hood on a C-K without some serious hard work. It would be easier to build a C-K hood from scratch.

I know they don't fit easily, hardly at all. Still, this one looks funny to me.

I still say it'd be easier to fab one from scratch.

Definitely not a "stock" '53. It's been de-emblemed but the hood is correct. The shifter, tachometer, upholstery, wheel covers, intake/carb/air cleaner, etc, etc are not.
Appears to be a fine car for summer cruising.
Sure would be nice if you could get a local member to examine it for you. When this much has been nicely altered, you would think the underlying foundation has been properly addressed.

The hood contour (maybe it is just the lighting) looks just like the photos of the 54 that Sal recently posted.

This car started out as a Champion, not a "Commander", not that that makes much diference with the modifications to it.
