Yes, it is. '62 Dayton trim on a '63.

No matter the year of the trim, you can't get prettier than that.

The trim is correct for a '63 Custom. And like Bob said, that's Richard Poe's fire breathing R1.

A '63 Custom two-door sedan, IMHO, is the best-looking '63 Lark. They're fairly rare, too, and I like the seat and door trim even better than a Daytona!

I've said this in the past, but I sure would have liked to see 63V-31238, which was a Super Red '63 Custom two-door sedan with the complete R2 High Performance Package. It was a Powershift, had a white Skytop and solid black vinyl bucket seat interior. Went to Hecker Motors in Hollidaysburg, PA. The name in the SNM archives listed on the card as original owner is still with us. I wrote him and he said he was good friends with the dealership owner but didn't remember owning such a car!

The subject photo of Richard's factory R1 / 4-speed 1963 R1 Lark Custom 2-door also appeared in an issue of Musclecar Enthusiast about a year ago. It was nicely-sized in the magazine, too; not a little postage-stamp print you could hardly see.

Further, Richard's Lark was delivered new at Warren & Day Studebaker in San Bernardio CA. Warren & Day sold many high-performance Studebakers. Among them (besides Richard's car, here) was Gordon Williams' 1963 R1 / HD Flightomatic Standard in the period [1963] B&W photo on Page 64 of the February 2009 Collectible Automobile article High-Performance Studebakers of the 50s and 60s. We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

Here is another of Richard's car that I took last year at Bean Blossom. It it hard to tell in this small photo, but you can't read the tire because the wheel is just starting to spin. You can check the larger pic here:

I have to agree with Bill. The 4 doors aren't half bad either, but then again, I'm prejudiced towards them (check the signature below).

WOW, thanks guys, and thanks Chris and George for posting the pictures of our car. As Bob Palma said a picture was in MCE last year. Bob Peterson, you should know you went down the track in it with me if I remember right.

That is a beautiful 63 Custom. What a cool pic George posted of the rear on the strip.
