  • Engine Color & Wiring Source

    One thing leads to another---
Got the 38 down to have exhaust leak resolved and it turned out to be a warped manifold - having it resurfaced. Now that it is off and finished seems to be the time to have it powder coated & paint the engine.
What was the correct color for the engine in 1938?
Powder Coat Manifold or paint with POR-15 High Temp Manifold Gray?
Wiring needs work - Source for Wiring?

    Appreciate your input and experiences

Studebakers West is a great source for wiring.

Haven't had luck with the POR for the high temp stuff...15 or 20. Still turns color and/or flakes; intake (center ports) and exhaust. Used all of their prep stuff, too. I'm trying porcelain this time. We'll see.

Ditto recommendation on Studebakers West for harnesses but,
if you are going for authenticity, they don't have the lacquered braided wire available.

For that, you will need to visit:

I never thought about the authenticity part. I would also recommend YnZ. They did the harness for my '54 coupe. Excellent work, but not cheap.
