I found a guy who restores Studebaker and most other classic radios, new speakers available for Studebaker and other classics. Speakers made in the USA meet orginal specs and are priced around $40.00. A standard Delco radio costs around $125.00 to repair, includes restoring face and dial. Located in Blaine, MN www.turmswitch.com

They also do conversions to am/fm, They did the radio in my 52 Commander a "few" years ago. Great job, and works fantastic. I would highly recommend them.
Bud on this forum also does radio repairs, but no conversions to am/fm

Thanks for the update. My concern is not keeping the radio original and regretting that decision later. By gutting it, to bring in new technology, am I sacrificing the "integrity" of the car/restoration?
Thanks again

No that won't hurt anything, nobody will know what is inside of it, if you keep the face and outside stock. [^]
Even if you build a custom fitted new Stereo to fit in the opening, it can always be replaced with an original Studebaker/Philco later if need be, to sell the car.
