I do like the red with tan / beige / camel colored interior. I wonder why we don't see that more often?

Cary nice car. Do you have a picture of all of the Packard Hawks that were in Jancaster? More there than I have seen at one time in a very long time.

No, but a lot of them. I enjoy the subject matter, but even more the good people here. So, it follows that I'm going to be engaged and involved.

Hope that's not a problem for you; 'cause it's NOT gonna change.

That is NOT a fish mouth as the car clearly isn't in water. This is where all the confusion over the Golden Hawk's "other" nose began.
Raymond Loewy was bored one day whilst designing the Hoover vacuum cleaner and decided to try the head on the Golden Hawk.He also knew of the power of the old Hoover Vacs and how they could feed the McCullough supercharger enough to get the Hawk to 125 mph.
His influence with Studebaker was so great that the styling department went ahead with it and never told engineering, management or sales.Or anyone else for that matter...
That is how the Packard Hawk was created and why so few were made.Had the sales dept. and the strong dealer network known in advance, sales should have topped 120,000,but it was a secret,so it was never to be.That's also why the cars were so expensive,so the profits would be the same as if sales reached the target.A clever Studebaker ploy!!!
For the full ( secret) story go to : www.hoover/loewysecretdesigns.net.au
Loewy was actually catfishing in the Blue Mountains while holidaying in Australia, but was frustrated at the time with the art deco Vacuum cleaner designs the opposition were putting together. He knew he could create something better and a sales sensation as well. The Packard Hawk is the irrefutable proof...better, with sensationally low sales.
Hope this helps clear up the confusion re. the little known Hoover fronted Packard.Do not feel like a sucker if you believe this as I assure you its true.

I agree with most of you that it's a nice looking car. Especially in that color. What I can't figure out is, why was the car so maligned when it was new? I think I know the answer. It wasn't a TRUE Packard.
                              Am I close?
