The car is happily back on the road after some major projects and a number of upgrades. Original engine was rebuilt with a NOS 289 crank and Fairborn pistons, needed 0.060 overbore. Also used Phil's R Plus cam and heavier valve springs. The howling, dripping original rear end was replaced by a NOS Twin Traction assembly that I had purchased from Newman & Altman in the early 80's. The 3.31 ratio is a great match for the upgraded engine and Detroit Gear automatic. With the brackets for traction bars already welded to the axle housing at the factory, I couldn't resist adding the radius rods and front brackets (from Dave Thiebault). The missing front fog lamps were replaced and reconnected to the original harness without mishap. A NOS third horn was also reinstalled. I even replaced the shapeless aftermarket black rug with a beautifully fitting carpet set in original Rangoon Red from Rene Harger. It all works! At many steps along the way, the contributors to the forum were a great help. Thank you all.
