A welcome report, to be sure.
I might add that I spoke to Ed personally about this at our Indy Chapter SDC February meeting at Studebaker International. It was good to hear Ed say that he was comfortable at having scavenged every worthwhile piece (and then some) with time to spare.
As many of us know, Dennis and the new SASCO staff were rushed when the parts were last moved in 2000, and did not have adequate time or compentent help to effect the move with minimum unit loss or damage. As a result, a few were lost or left behind.
Not so this time. Ed reported having plenty of time and enough competent workers that the parts are actually in better care and custody now than during the 2000-2010 time period, and in a more secure facility to boot.
Further good news is that the soft trim parts, which have been a marginal stepchild due to their "perishability" when compared to hard parts, have now been broken out and are being similarly cataloged and cared for by a separate vendor.
This is the best of news all the way around for The Studebaker World. Congrats and thanks, Ed.
(Now, can I please buy the R3 engine before George and Nelson find out about it?[}]) [8D]BPWe've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

Thanks Ed for not only you stepping in and saving this treasure for us, but for your honesty, for this was where your dad worked for many years and who else can have such a relationship than you. It is sad to see the Engineering Building go, but not all is forgotten and you are our example to not let our emotions cloud desicions that have to be made, although painful, at times. How about a book with lots of pictures sharing the thoughts & stories from your dad? Thanks again for your continued effort & support!

This is certainly great news. Especially once the stock is online, then it will be easy to determine whether or not asked for parts are available. Hopefully much stock will clear since it's now all properly catalogued.
