  • Tom Elliotts 51 coupe

    I went down to Toms house yesterday bleed the rear brakes
    put the wheels on,& torqued the rear axle nuts.The car is
    sold &the people will pick it up saturday.The only thing
    i couldnt do is get the car started.Matthew had it running
    a few weeks ago.

      Be sure to lay some info and an application to SDC on the front seat when they pick it up. That way we can keep an eye on the car in the future. That's how I got started here.

        Glad you helped him out Lenny. (This is the Starlight coupe, BTW). While I was there I redid the rear brakes but ran out of time before we got to bleed them. I think he told me it was going to Pennsylvania. I can't imagine watching your first car, that you bought in 1973, being picked up by a new owner. Tom was VERY picky about who he sold the car to. The buyer is an SDC member and Tom has sold him a Studebaker before. The car will be getting the restoration it deserves.

        Late last year, I had the Starlight running for the first time in at least a decade. He drove it all over the place. His smile was priceless.

        The Business coupe is still for sale.

        Lenny, did ya happen to notice the very rare, early Mercedes Benz logo?

          Matthew i thought those letters were your initals,i didnt think MERCEDES Benz.
          when you find out about the stainless tailgate chains let me know.I have 2
          sets but both rusty.
