Do I need a new screen name? Moved to Salina...

Well, due to the sagging economy in Las Vegas, and a GREAT job opportunity in Salina, KS, I have moved and started as the new Chief Building Official for the City of Salina, KS. Although I haven't completely relocated yet (family is in Las Vegas until the house sells), half my possessions are in storage here in Salina, including my 51 Studebaker.

Seems to be quite a car community here, and as things warm up, I'll be out & about with the 51. Can't wait to cruise with my wife and son in this wonderful community.

First, does anyone know which local chapter serves Salina KS? On the SDC local chapter list, it's difficult to tell.

Second, is it legal/kosher/appropriate to keep my screen name? I feel like a false-advertiser! Maybe I'll just modify it a bit, kind of like my resto-mod car.

Anyway, I'm no longer truly Vegas-Paul, but I'm still working on the Studebaker, and ready to draw smiles from a whole new bunch of folks...

Paul,I would say you are a little closer to the Midway Chapter in Wichita than the Kaw Valley Chapter which is more or less located in the Topeka area. Your choice I guess. All contact info should be on the Chapter link off the home page. Welcome to the central U.S. and the North Central Zone of SDC. We will be coming through Salina as a matter of fact in 2 weeks on our way back to Omaha from Sun City, AZ.As far as changing your screen name,your choice, but not necessary.

Hi, Paul - I emailed you back around February 4th with the Kansas options for SDC chapters. If you'd like to check out the Midway bunch we are meeting in Goddard, KS (west of Wichita on US54) this Sunday afternoon at 2PM. Contact me for more info if you like.

The Kaw Valley chapter may be meeting this Sunday, too - probably near Topeka/Lawrence/Manhattan are along I-70.

Paul, what did you do in Vegas? With your new job I find it hard to believe that there would be more building In Kansas then in Vegas, Iam a retired Building inspector from Oakland Ca. retired in 02, even with the slow down a lot of work on larger projects in big city, ..Bob

Bob - similar position in Las Vegas, but the municipalities are slashing budgets because there is VERY little building going on now... Lay-offs are inevitable. Anyway, we've been looking to move to a better place ever since we adopted our grandson (now our son!). He's started elementary school and I don't want to raise him in Las Vegas. Salina KS was rated one of the best places in the country for raising kids.

I'm very happy here and when my family gets here, I'll be ecstatic!

Milaca - "What happened in Vegas" was the 5-year (and counting) build of my car... and it's already left Vegas. The only things remaining in Vegas after the move is complete is some nasty stains in the driveway that won't come up.
Good thing I fixed that leak so I won't be staining Kansas.

I've enjoyed following your Voice from Vegas posts, and will continue with your new Saga from Salina.

I recommend you do just as your latest posts show, and keep your "vegas paul" screen name, with new location in sig line.

I've been a Studebaker lover since my teens, and a Vegas lover since old enough to visit the casinos.
