Nice, does it have Studebaker engines?

This is going back a couple of years since the airshow, but from what they told me and my other pictures, there is at least one Wright Cyclone engine in that group. It is on the left side of the plane on the inboard side next to the body. It has a Wright patent tag on it that I got pictures of .

Well just for laughs, here's the other Eye Candy at the show, which was also packing the Wright engines:

        Mitchell B-25 "Yankee Warrior"

I know both planes have extant Wright engines. As to which ones are the Wright engines I can only guess. I presume the tag was under the Yankee Lady though .

I spent 30 years working at a defence plant. The owner, during the war, had a B-25 for his own personal transportation. The old guys used to talk about it because it was housed right in the plant, you could still see the runway up to about 15 years ago.

My two favorite WWII era airplanes. Thanks for the beautiful reminder of the might of our defense industry during the war. I think the B-25 has long been a favorite of mine because as a young kid I must have read "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" a dozen times or more. Of course the
B-17 is a favorite for obvious Studebaker reasons, but the more I hear and see about it, it was one heck of an airplane. There was a rerun of its history on the History Channel just the other day.

My Uncle was a waist gunner on a B-25 in WWII he survived 3 crash landings, walked away from 2 of them, and broke his leg in the 3rd. I have some picturs of him and the plane in the South Pacific somewhere.

A few years ago, my wife and I went to an air show here on Long Island.
There was a B-17 there with Memphis Belle markings. I asked if I could climb a ladder adjacent to one of the engines. When I did, I saw the Studebaker plate on the engine and shouted out "holy cow, it's a Studebaker." People looked at me as if I were nuts. They probably were right.
