I have been thinking about this for awhile. Even before the dustup. I feel it is time to take a break and let the muddied waters of the forum clear up a bit. I hope no one has become diabetic on too much eye "candy". LOL And I hope I haven't driven anyone away with those postings.A inflated post count was never my objective. I am not that self important. If my post count bugs anyone that much,I can change my account to another name and start @ zero if that what needs done. Lurking more and posting less seems like a good idea. Thanks for the past picture donations and kind words. RICH.

Rich,
Don't stop. I personally look forward to your Eye Candy each day. You only average 1.83 posts per day. I feel that the "other eye candy" poster who averages 9.41 posts a day could rest a while instead. Sorry Chris!

Please excuse me for being a bolshie Aussie here, but this is bull****. I have been in many clubs, and organisations, and I'm sick of the noisy minority lording it over the silent majority. I know I am not a memeber of the SDC, (a little bit out of it being half a globe away). But I come here for Studebaker chat, comeraderie, and seeing pics of Stude's, we down here, only dream about. I know this whole thing has been precipitated by some bad comments of a few, but isn't that what life is about? We can't totally cloister everyone. If you don't agree with someone's comment, big deal,,, let it wash over you, and move on.

I wasn't going to comment on the recent events, but I really enjoy my interludes with you guys, even if you speak funny:D

No break needed at all! The majority DO enjoy your photos. You were obviously missed in December when your computer was ill. Others quickly came in and filled in the gap. This proves beyond a doubt people here need your eye candy!! I expect to see one from you later today.

You Da Man Rich, when it comes to posting Eye Candy. Please dont stop. but i see your point. I've had a few negitive post, and while it kinda bothers me i concider the poster. My Hub cap Air cleaner was one. Dont have it now that i put the supercharger on, but i'd use it again in a heart beat. Dont let one or two posters ruin a good thing. Now if you are just plain tired of doing it, thats another story.

I was afraid something like this was going to happen when I read the post that was so negative about the daily picture postings. Rich, I really love your Eye Candy each morning. If you want to stop for awhile simply because the task of posting these picture day in and day out is getting a little more than you bargained for, then by all means do so. I imagine that such a service as that which you have been providing can eventually become quite a "job." But if you are stopping because someone does not want to see the daily Eye Candy for some reason, please don't. Again I really look forward to your daily treats and if they become a little too much, I simply dial in some more insulin into my insulin pump.:D

That's a shame, Rich. 95% of us love all the pictures we can get, the more the merrier. Don't let a very few whiners with life issues that have nothing to do with the forum or what's posted here phase you. If you want to stop because it takes a lot of effort that's perfectly fine; but don't let the head cases run you off. You're one of the good guys, and we need you, eye candy or not!

I have no idea why a few people are so obsessed wih post count; personally I could not care less. If the totals went away it would be fine with me. My post count is high because I like the group and the subject matter, and am involved and engaged. I'm not proud, nor embarrassed by it. I highly doubt anyone sits around adding any old thing to a thread just to inflate their post count; anyone who thinks anyone does that is downright childish, and are just embarrassing themselves. I know there are a couple people who were upset that I didn't say a word when I crossed 10K posts, because now if/when they do they'll look foolish if they make a big thing of it. How sad is it when somebody's number of posts on some internet site is important enough to be jealous of? It's just a symptom- if post totals didn't show, those few would find something else to carp about.

I am at 25 years and counting with a beautiful woman that's WAY out of my league, we have a wonderful 19 YO son in college, I'm making a living, and I have my health back after a serious illness almost exactly one year ago. Business has been rocky- same at my job- but I have many blessings to count, and I do. I enjoy the hell out of the Studebaker world, especially the good people here, and on Sonny's site, and on the truck forum. I am involved to a high degree because it reflects my life in general- I'm a type A personality that's involved in lots of things, to lots of levels. If people are unhappy in their lives and would rather pick at others' than fix their own, we can give our pity, but there's no point in joining them there. Rich, I know you, and you're a good guy, just the kind that is needed here. Post as much or as little as you like, but don't let malcontents run you off. Everyone knows what you're posting by the title "eye candy", so they have the option to just not click on it if they don't want to see it. Same with 'for sale' listings- why not just NOT open them if one doesn't want to? Seems like the most basic logic to me. Don't let a tiny percentage of frustrated people get you down![^]

I already was diabetic before you started. I just increase my insulin dosage!

And just when you seemed to find a stash of '55 pictures, too! Sad.

I don't read all of the threads, so I didn't see whatever post it was that was complaining about the pictures. But I [u]DO</u> look for the Eye Candy every day.

As others have said, if you're tired and just need a break, by all means, rest up! But don't let one or two whiners ruin all the fun the rest of us are having with your posts.

Another vote of support for you, Rich. I love your pics, even the ones I don't love so much. Don't personally care for mods, but your pics take us ALL around the world of what to do with your car. Even the ones I wouldn't own are ones that are down well and with love.

Your postings will definitely be missed by me. Hope you return to it soon, if you don't just change your mind now and keep on posting.

Don't really understand all this hubbub about "negativity" on the forum. I see people expressing their views which aren't always the same as others, but that is individualism. I think the people who whine about a disagreeing post are worse.

As time passed I came to like it and was the first post I opened every day.
I own about a dozen of Studebakers, most of them restored, still I always looked forward to your posts. Your posts was one that never offended, and pleased most members.

And I agree with Allen. The other eye candy is not so sweet! Sort of like that FAKE sugar that came along to copy the real thing! But just does not measure up in the sugar cup of life.
Thanks for your efforts, but PLEASE do give some thought to reconsidering hanging it up!

Rich

I can't add to anything that the folks above have added but from my standpoint what you post is really at the heart of what I would expect to find on a forum titled The Studebaker Drivers Club.

It's not count inflation nor is it in any way detrimental. It shares the joy and beauty that this hobby should entail and your posts demonstrate that joy and beauty better than most others on the forum

If you must go, please make it short. The forum is better by far with your addition.

As a comment: I know the reasons that some have left and am puzzled by the reasons of others. But I will continue to NOT understand why taking their ball and leaving furthers the Marque that they claim to hold dear.[?][?][?][?]

I guess I should change my forum name to GrosslyPuzzledBob. It's certainly not the route I would choose.

Bob

I'll jump in too. I am very new here but I love the eye candy posts. I also think they can be a good reference tool. I am not an old time Studebaker guy and where I live, you don't see any at the local car shows. For me, a picture here and there of a car similar to mine is a great reference tool. It is a quick and easy reference of what is wrong and what is right.

FANTASTIC! Take your time, catch your breath and know that when you come back with your "Eye Candy" we will welcome you back like a kid on Halloween. Thanks.

Don't worry about what a couple of people say. Some people are very unhappy and enjoy trying to make others unhappy by complaining about trivial little things like their post count. Since the majority here obviously wants you to continue with the daily pics you should do that and not worry about what a small minority thinks.... :)

Rich, eye candy is the first thread I check. I also will miss it.

EXACTLY! Me too! I would open the board every morning and the first thing I would search for was the daily dose of "candy". Just learing the Studebaker hobby, your Eye Candy posts showed such a variety that it gave a rookie like myself an education every day. And now with a couple of the other guys sharing their photos as well made it a pleasure to surf the board.

Rich,
Your eye candy pix have been great and make the day for a lot of us.
However, that said, you're entitled to a break. If you feel like jumping back in at some point in time, you'll be welcomed with open arms. Be well.

Me, too. Your pictures have helped my Studebaker education.

I'm completely in the dark about what made you stop, but I'm glad you'll start posting again soon.

Please restart posting your Eyecandy when you are ready. Have a nice break and will see you in SOUTH BEND in May.
