  • Olympic Studebakers and Pickles

Studebakers got great publicity in my local paper today (2/28):

On the front page of the sports section of the Boston Globe is an article about the Olympic bobsled team's gold medal, the first since 1948. It begins:

"Babe Ruth was still alive, the Chicago Cardinals were the NFL champions, and the Studebaker was a hot car the last time the Americans won the Olympic gold medal for the four-man bobsled."

In the comics section of the paper, the cartoon "Pickles" has two good views of the bulletnose car that appears in the strip with some regularity.

    I like that one.

I have never seen a Studebaker in a comic strip driven by anyone cool or flashy... they're always driven by old folks, nerds, or curmudgeons- or some combination of the three[:I] Resembling real life maybe?[)]

Not me, of course- my Mom said I'm cool.....

Well, it's 62 years later and the Babe is long gone, the Cardinals have moved to a warmer climate, and Studebakers are STILL hot cars.

BTW, I loved Holcombs dance. Did you see it? - He stole my moves!

Thanks for the heads up. I've been waiting for Pickles to put the Studebaker in the strip.
I finally live in a town that runs the strip.
