  • One Million Dollar 37 Sedan?

Well, I've been curious since last week. It was reported that a copy of the first Superman comic - Action Comics, actually - was sold for $1,000,000.00. I saw the image and wondered - is the car on the cover a Studebaker?

Personally the fender shape and hood side trim remind me more of a 37 Ford. As does the grill and general body.

There's no oil on the ground under it. BUT, Superman is saving it from those criminal types, so it must be a Studebaker.

          Could be a Lincoln Zephyr.

I am thinking '36 ford. It was the last year ford had pod headlights and there are clearly those on the cover art (including the driver side one flying off!). Clues I base my opinion:

            Pod headlights
            rear suicide doors
no center post in the windshield
            trunk "bustle"
            grill in side of hood

That said, 30s cars are not my area and I could well be wrong. I've not seen too many pictures of non-ford or chevys from that era.

Wow though, $1M for a rather ratty looking old comic... I don't get it, but to each their own!

I had also thought Ford, but knew the 37 had integrated headlights in the fenders. I had decided not to post anything until I saw today's eyecandy (reposted here):
