how do you tell what number of production you car is
in 64 the hawks were only 1,776 built. how can you tell if your car is a late 64 , or an early built hawk

Serial number, body number too, but less a accurate.

What's your body plate number on your cowl, Hunter?

I would think that the date which your car was built, (as noted on the production order), would be the most accurate. Though it still would be just a guess.

The body number gives the sequential number that that body tub was assembled. It will be pretty close to the build order for a 1964 Hawk.
There is hardly any difference from early to late production since 1964 Hawks were only made from September to December of 1963.

welll see if you can make any since of this.... the cars date to ship on the production order is october first of 63... the date the production order was written is september 20 of 63..... the cowl number under the winsheild is 64v-k6 901
and the door jam plate number is 64v-9249... so im not really sure how to tel if. you know reply thanks.

Hunter, if there were 1,776 built yours was pretty close to the middle of production of that body style. If the order was written that early, there must have been a fairly decent slow up later, if they were made until December...and I'm sure Gary is accurate with that. If I'm not mistaken the body numbers started with 101. Those who know for sure will chime in.
