Can anyone with a 53-55 sedan tell me where the jack base , tire wrench are stowed ? Where does the hold down bolt come through the rim ? Thanks John

Normally the hold down bolt goes through the center of the wheel and the jack base (upside down) is used like a big washer to hold the wheel down under the wing nut or nut on the hold down bolt. The jack and handle are usually underneath to keep from rattling.

Do the sedans have a wheel well like the 51-52 or are they laid out like the C/K models?

The jack mounts behind the vertical spare and the base becomes the washer in the middle of the spare held by a large wing nut

The spare is vertical in the sedan but there is also a sleeve with a tab sticking out . It fits over the hold down bolt but what is its purpose ?

IIRC, the spare fits vertically in a well and is retained by a bolt with wing nut that goes through the jack base which is placed on the center of the wheel. The jack is behind the wheel and is held in place with a sort of clip.
