  • commander water pump pulley size

I have 2 commander engines one is for a truck and has a 5 inch pulley and is 3/16 inch shorter than the car engine that has a 6 inch pulley. The question is should the 5 inch pulley be 3/16 inch shorter than the 6 inch pulley and the shorter (5 inch) pulley causes the alignment to be off in relation to the crank shaft pulley?

Without looking these pulleys up in the Truck Parts Catalog AND the '47-'50 Car Chassis Parts Catalog, I can only guess that 3/16" diff. would be the thickness of a spacer maybe?

It could be the problem is on the crank hub and pulley installation.

Or, the water pump hub is not pressed on to the correctl depth.

I am assuming you have a Commander Big 6 (245 ci.) right?
