  • Cloth insulated wiring

I have replaced the wiring harness in my 51 Champion and have the original wires. I am ready to send it to the trash but thought I would check and see if any one is in need of some. Most of it is in pretty bad shape but some would be useable. Don't want to throw it away and then find out someone could have used it.

I can think of few things more dangerous on our older cars than original cloth insulated wiring. In fact, I think we should start considering it a points penalty at shows if a car is still sporting original wires. A modern wire with an original cloth cover to give the factory "look" should be OK but not the actual old cloth and inferior insulation like the OEM. They are dangerous, not only to themselves, but to any car parked next to them. Do yourself and the rest of the car-collecting world a favor and ditch the old brittle wires.

Check with Rhode Island Wiring if they don't manufacture your harness, they may purchase the old one for a pattern.
