View Full Version : 58 Transtar of sale....$2995

A local charity is selling a 58 Transtar at its used car lot.
A Craigslist ad reads....
"Blue Exterior 2 Door Cloth Interior RWD Long Bed Cassette/Stereo Automatic Transmission Engine: 445c.i. 8Cyl 5Digit Odometer: 20969"

I [u]think</u> this is the truck owned by an elderly former SDC chapter president. I saw it last year at his home not far from my place and he's trying to thin out his collection.
Since then, some storm damage building collapse repairs (broken windshield, a dent in the roof) look to have taken place. If it's the same truck, it's said to have a 1970 Buick Riveria V-8.

Photos are at:

As always, if a SDC member buys it they can keep it at my place (sorry, outdoor only) until they can collect it.

Wonder what the shift lever is on right side by kick panel?? Anyone know?

Maine Hawk, I think that's an optical illusion. It's not on the right side by the kick panel but in the center. That looks like a shifter ball for a floor mount shifter on the automatic tranny. Probably a conversion?

As Snowy Buffalo said, that shifter on the transmission hump is obviously a custom job... I'm more interested in the 445 ci V8, wonder what that looks like under the hood? ;)

I looked at that truck awhile back, the shifter is a floor shift auto, the engine was installed nicely , the mounts are good and overall looks great, the interior is great for a daily driver rig, I was disapointed in the original suspension bushings being original and ruff, didnt mind the original, the bushings were just all gone, the rear end is still original stude(slow). The body is not too bad .
