I have the engine (289)
I have the car (60 Lark VI)

what I need are the parts to make them play together: specifically the metal that bolts to the engine, and the metal that bolts to the front crossmember. The rubber is surely standard catalog stuff. Does anyone have these parts as spares and can sell them to me?

Also, what will have to change at the trans crossmember for the chevy pattern bellhousing to sit nicely on it?

I know I'll have to rig up an inner support for the clutch cross shaft too, as there are no suitable Stude parts to attach to a T5.

Forgive the questions please buuuut... Why are you putting a Chevy bellhousing on a Studebaker motor[?][?] Surely you can get the proper bellhousing? I thought at first you were putting a Chevy motor in and was going to suggest using the mounting hardware for a '65-6 model. As it is, use Studebaker parts and save yourself the headache.

Have a look in the local junk yards for Larks. You should be able to find the appropriate parts. Check with Bob Peterson, he just might have what you're looking for as well.

Now, as to putting a V8 into a six chassis, you will [u]HAVE </u> to upgrade the brakes (front and rear), and the front springs. That little Lark VI will really sag with the heavier engine up there. You might like the rake, but the tires will rub in the wheel wells and there will be other clearance issues.[:0][B)] I believe Studebaker International has the springs. You'll be a bit challenged to do the linkage, but if you're careful and stick to a factory-type application (Studebaker parts) it won't be too very difficult.:D

I haven't seen a Lark in any Phx junkyard in a few decades.

I wasn't very clear. The bellhousing is most certainly not from a Chevrolet, it is from a 61 Hawk (Chevy T10 bolt pattern)

The front brakes are already 11" finned drums, the back are 10x2.25 on a Ford Mustang rear axle

Haven't picked the front springs yet, but I'm relocating the battery and using some lighter weight parts on and around the engine, so I'll try to take all those factors (and the Bilstein front shocks) into account.

I was just hoping someone had some spare engine mounting so I could bolt the engine in. Plus some hands-on knowledge about how the 6 cyl trans crossmember will line up with V8 Stude parts.

I'm not sure about first generation Larks, but earlier cars used the same engine mounts, 6 and 8, on the front, just different holes. The bellhousing mounts on the next crossmember. Probably just need new mounts.

The best way to do this and not have to listen to a lot of hearsay and guesses, is to get the Studebaker Parts Catalogs (Chassis mostly) or CD for all including Shop Manual, from a Studebaker Vendor for '59-'64.

Then you are all set to peruse them, and compare the PART NUMBERS from a '60 Lark VI to a '60 Lark VIII to see what is different and what is NOT! [^]

Even check out how the [u]early '62 Lark</u> Clutch Linkage was built with the Chevy case T-10 for needed parts! Understand though, that it was done with the suspended pedals, not through the floor like yours.

Then list what you need, ORDER what you can, and post the used stuff you need here! :)

After looking and comparing in the parts manual, the only part in common is the trans crossmember.
The mounts that bolt to the engine are available from the vendors.
The frame mounts are different 6 to V8 and I need the V8 ones (1547207 and 1547206) if anyone can spare them, I'd REALLY appreciate it.
