Thanks Dan, are these also correct for 63,64 non R engine cars with AFBs.

I would think so, all the Stude/Avanti AFBs mount the same and should have the same throttle tab that contacts the dash pot. Stude Truck parts manual should give a part # that would match the non-R Stude car part #

I have some earlier V8 dashpots, but not for the Avanti engines. A friend just bought one from SI last month for his Golden Hawk...

                Joseph,

A phone call to SI will answer the question if their dash-pot #1558169 is interchangeable with the standard 63 289 with and AFB. They're very helpful in this manner. Hope this helps.

Dashpots (Throttle Checks), 1557729 (for AFB) are used only on Automatic Trans. cars to SLOW the throttle return to prevent "killing" the engine on hard deceleration. It uses a restricted relief diaphragm for delayed throttle return.

The R1-R2 [u]Throttle Kicker</u> 1558169 is used to [u]SPEED UP</u> the idle of ALL R1 & R2 "cammed" engines regardless of Trans type, to prevent dying, due to the rougher idling high lift Cam. [:0]
These use engine VACUUM to control the idle.

It was quite clear from this post that the FUNCTION of the two, was NOT understood!
