  • 1963 Lark r2

I just joined the club and I have my eye on a 63 lark R2. I've been doing research and I believe I can't go wrong buying this car. I don't know if it runs but it is complete and has the supercharger on it. It has been sitting under a lean too for several years. I need to act fast because with a 3000 price it will go fast. Can I lose buying this car? Any input would be greatly appreciated. THanks in advance

You'll do fine. The engine/blower setup is worth that. Just make sure it's a real R2. We can tell with the serial number. I bought one for $1200 a few years back, spent 10K restoring it and more than doubled my investment.

The VIN has very little "intelligence". It was well before the 17 digit VINS that did.

If you post the VIN (driver's side A pillar) and the stamped engine number (left front corner of the engine block), someone here can look it up on the Jet Thrust register and tell you if it is legit.

Currently working on one myself. Would love to see pics. Also there are a number of us who can help you with the vin. It is between the door hinges on the drivers door.

The engine block number should start with JTS

Well I negotiated a deal on the lark today. Had to pay a little more than 3 for it. I'm picking it up tomorrow. I will post pics when I get it home. Any offers?

You got yoruself a deal & a half alright! I stumbled across my 63 R-2 Hawk by chance 21 years ago & paid the same amount for it then. It has given me years & miles of satisfaction & pleasure since. Mine was a true R-2 but the previous owner had removed the supercharger setup, cam and carb leaving only the basic engine, oil pan w/tube, alternator bracket & distributor. It took me a couple of years to fine all the pieces to bring it back to original, including buying a complete R-2 engine to get the correct water manifold and driving halfway across the country to pick it up! Enjoy your new ride as we will too with PICTURES!
